European Central Bank win for Coop Himmelb(l)au

Austrian architect Wolf Prix presents his model for the €500m new headquarters for the European Central Bank in Frankfurt this week. The project is formed of two stunning 185 m high twisted towers and will connect with the converted former Grossmarkthalle (wholesale market). Descendants of Martin Elsaesser, architect of the original market have objected to the scheme but Lorenzo Bini Smaghi of the banks board dismissed the objection arguing that delays would cost the taxpayers money.
