Zaha completes in Wolfsburg
Phaeno Science Centre
Zaha Hadid completes the Phaeno Science Centre, the first of its kind in Germany. Conceived as a mysterious object giving rise to curiosity and discovery, the project is based on an unusual volumetric structural logic. The floors are neither piled above each other nor could they be seen as a hall with a large roof spanning from one side to the other. The visitor is faced with a degree of the complexity and strangeness, which is ruled by a very specific system. The area in front of the station grows wider inside the building. .............more
 
Sydney based architects Johnson Pilton Walker have won an open competition for the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, Australia's capital. The building will be the first major public building to be constructed in the Parliamentary Zone for almost 20 years, and will be only the fourth purpose built portrait gallery in the world. Japan’s new National Art Center, located in the Roppongi district at the center of Tokyo is made up of seven enormous column-less display rooms, each 2000 m2, a library, an auditorium, a restaurant, a cafe and a museum shop.
