Munich Academy of Fine Arts opens
Coop Himmelblau‘s new academy of Fine Arts in Munich
Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber opened Coop Himmelblau‘s new academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany today. The practice won the competition in 1992, in which 178 architects’ offices participated. Wolf D. Prix, senior architect of the Viennese office said "We dreamed of this building nearly 15 years ago and are very happy now to see that this dream has become a reality." .....more
Foster completes first project in Canada The design of the Leslie L. Dan Building for the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto will provide state-of-the-art facilities for more than 1000 students. The multifunctional building centralises teaching, research and administrative spaces - many of which had been dispersed throughout the campus – in a single structure. .....more
Dos Architects to build in Dubai International firm Dos Architects have been selected to design this 93 floor tower which provide 632 flats. The architects have aimed to create an aesthetic appearance and functionality which are the product of a direct relationship with the surrounding natural environment. Solar panels will provide up to 25% of the total energy consumed within the tower.. .... more
'Patient designed' hospital opens The £70 million Evelina Hospital which was partly designed by its child patients is opening this weekend. It is the first new childrens' hospital to open in London for 100 years. Work began on the hospital, designed by Hopkins Architects, in March 2003. ..... more
Nagakin Poll result The WAN poll of over 10,000 architects in 100 countries has provided a resounding vote of support for the architect, Kisho Kurokawa. The results were as follows:
