HENRIK VOS'S CONTEMPORARY MONASTERY

HOTEL: Aimed at being a 'museum of contemporary 20th century design' Kruisherenhotel-Maastricht's interior design goes far beyond that of a normal hotel.

Housed in a cloister complex of a 15th century monastery, the old Gothic exterior contrasts spectacularly with a chic modern interior. The open church space was divided into various levels by the interior architect Henk Vos and furnished with a range of top-flight designs by the likes of Le Corbusier, Starck, Newson, Wanders, Mackintosh, Rietveld and Piet-Hein Eek.

TEMPORIUM POP-UP SHOP, LONDON

RETAIL: The Temporium pop-up shop features design-led interior products from cutting-edge brands and independent designers, and is set to appear at various locations across the UK over the coming year. WAN investigated this treasure trove of contemporary design during its debut stint in Brompton Road.

QUEENSTOWN HOUSE, NEW ZEALAND

RESIDENTIAL: This Queenstown House was designed by architect Thom Craig while he was a director of his previous company +MAP, New Zealand.

The House, with all external surfaces (including the roof) totally clad in cedar, is fractured in plan and facetted in elevation and draws its 3 dimensional planning and massing inspiration from the nearby braided Shotover river and surrounding mountain ranges.

RESIDENTIAL: Nestled directly across from the Eiffel Tower, this apartment building in Paris is a place where comfort meets elegance, with high design results and an array of five-star services.

APARTMENT TIERGARTEN, BERLIN

RESIDENTIAL: Headed up by Axel Schaefer, who studied architecture in Berlin, Berlinrodeo was established in 2006 and has undertaken many Berlin based projects including the headquarters of South & Browse's TV production company, hip restaurant Bond and the traditional pastry shop Conditorei Jebens.

PRODUCTS: Designed by Kent Gration of Intergration Studio in Queenstown Australia, the Constellation Light explores the celestial connection between people in different places at different times and of varying cultural backgrounds, and how we are all connected and guided by the same points of reference - the stars, sun and moon.

RUBIK RESTAURANT, MEXICO

RESTAURANT: Nested on the upper level of a shopping plaza, Rubik was conceived as a young but elegant eating-place. The brief was to develop an experience that built upon Merida's new wave of high quality gourmet restaurants, and to attract clientele and make them feel comfortable.
