Philippe Starck + Riko realise first prototype of low-energy prefab homes
Designer Philippe Starck and Slovenian wooden prefabricated building manufacturer Riko have unveiled a prototype - which Starck himself plans to move into - for their second generation of prefabricated, accessible, low-energy homes. The two-storey, glass-walled house in Montfort, France, is the model for the second series of houses the French designer has produced with Riko. The ‘P.A.T.H' houses - prefabricated accessible technological homes -combine Starck's signature timeless design and Riko's expertise with state-of-the-art insulation and energy production technology. "At Riko, we have integrated the most advanced engineering knowledge and start-of-the-art prefabrication technology to create a contemporary living solution which is economically accessible to all who appreciate the symbiosis of ecology and aesthetics," said Janez Škrabec, CEO of Riko.
