Held in collaboration with the Public Programme associated with the exhibition Citizens and Kings, this focus day probes the construction, articulation and erasure of power within the urban environment through national institutions, public art and civic planning. In so doing, it invokes the interrelationship between public space and memory, acts of commemoration and political systems. Speakers include Jenny Edkins, MaryAnne Stevens, architectural historian Jean-Louis Cohen, artist Louise Wilson and former Labour MP and Cabinet Minister Tony Benn. The day will be chaired by Adrian Rifkin.
