Anthony Battersby and Rachel Feilden, co-founders of Mendip Power Group, started reinstating Tellisford Mill, a redundant flour mill on the river Frome in 2002. It was typical of an estimated 25,000 run of river hydro sites in England and Wales. Tellisford Mill began generating power in January 2007 and its output is now around 1 million kWh of ‘green’ electricity. Since then they have formed River Energy Networks to advise others on implementing hydro. This talk describes how they brought Tellisford Mill back to life and their work encouraging similar schemes in the UK.
