The UK’s only event to focus exclusively on surface solutions in building design returns to the Business Design Centre on the 7th & 8th March 2007. The Surface Design Show will once again be the meeting place for architects, specifiers and interior designers. With over 100 exhibitors, informative and inspirational talks and exclusive evening events the show will build on the success of previous years and promises to be truly unmissable.
Hundreds of exhibitors, new products and inspirational solutions. As befits an industry gathering of this nature and magnitude many of the exhibitors see it as the perfect platform from which to launch their latest and most innovative products. Amongst the returning exhibitors, flooring leaders Amtico International will be launching over 30 new products at the show from both their Amtico Woods and Innovative ranges. Also returning is the aluminium and steel wall and roof specialist Architectural Profiles, who are using the show to introduce their Alucobond ACM rainscreen system. Architectural Ceramics will be featuring the new Terra XXL porcelain tiles from the popular Terra Maestricht range from award-winning manufacturers Royal Mosa.
Many first time exhibitors will also be using the Surface Design Show to launch their products. Amongst these will be the world’s leader in expanded metal, The Expanded Metal Company, featuring its brand new attractive and alternative finishes for traditional types of expanded metal. Printed Panels Ltd will feature their new approach to design specification. Their “one-stop-shop” allows the customer to choose the make, design and surface property all to their own specification. In addition to these there are sure to be many surprises announced and showcased at the event!
The Surface Design Show prides itself on being a social and networking event with a range of features and events for both its visitors and exhibitors. The renowned Preview Evening will again be a popular event on the eve of the show (6th March) and due to its enormous popularity a second VIP event will be held this year on Wednesday night (7th March). These hospitality events successfully combine business and networking within a social setting, while providing the opportunity to hear the special keynote speeches.
To further heighten the visitor experience at the show, the material library SCIN (Surfaces Covering Interiors) will once again be creating ‘The SCIN bar’ an informative, inspirational and funky installation whilst introducing their new range of materials titled ‘Sustainable and Chic.’
The Surface Talks 2007 – exploring the future…
The Surface Design Show’s visionary seminar programme, Surface Talks, rapidly established itself as one of the show’s most popular features. This year, a study by the Design Laboratory of Central St Martins in London was commissioned to identify wider socio-economic trends and forecasts which will have the most effect on the built environment and future use of materials. This study has driven the seminar themes including affordable luxury, building for people, climate coping and responsive surroundings. Confirmed speakers include Richard Horden from micro compact home on the importance of downsizing and Karsten Huneck from the Office for Subversive Architecture on the benefits of playful design within architecture.
