To mark the opening of Edward Cullinan Architects ‘Making Places’ Open Studio Exhibition, RIBA Gold Medallist Edward Cullinan will present a talk on the way he and his practice set about designing buildings and making places. Using illustrations and examples of their buildings from the last fifty years - some of which are now listed – Edward will also demonstrate his characteristic illustrative style with live drawing.
A true architectural visionary, Edward has been at the forefront of the profession since setting up the co-operative practice in 1965. Awarded five Professorships and three honorary doctorates, he is also a Royal Academician, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and in 1987 received a CBE for services to architecture. In 2008, he was awarded the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in recognition of a lifetime’s work in architecture. He is Chair of Urban Vision North Staffordshire and has been an active trustee of Sir John Soane’s Museum, the Construction Industry for Youth Trust, the Building Experiences Trust and the Koestler Award Trust for art in prisons.
