Renowned for his thoughtful and sensitive modern architecture, Trevor Dannatt RA has a reputation for socially responsive design. With his firm Dannatt Johnson, where he continues to work, he has designed school and university buildings at leicester, Hull and Cambridge, as well as the British Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. More recently he oversaw the transformation of the Royal Naval College at Greenwich. Architectural historian Alan Powers speaks with him about these projects, his thoughts on conservation and the South Bank, his eye for architecture and art and his much admired art collection.
