Description Alain de Botton will give a public lecture about architecture and aesthetics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) on Wednesday 8 November. In his lecture Alain de Botton will examine what makes a building aesthetically successful, this will include a careful consideration of the words ‘beauty’ and ‘ugliness’.

Alain de Botton is a writer of essayistic books, which refer both to his own experiences and ideas and those of artists, philosophers and thinkers. His latest book is The Architecture of Happiness (Hamish Hamilton Ltd., 2006). The event will be chaired by Alan Montefiore.

‘The Question of Beauty in Architecture’ will take place at 6.30pm on Wednesday 8 November in the Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, LSE, London, WC2A. This event is free and open to all with no ticket required.
