Atkins and UCE Birmingham have lined up a strong cast of speakers for the 2006-2007 Urban Design Lecture series that starts in Birmingham this month and will run till May 2007.
Influential players in urban design and development such as architect Piers Gough, Gary Jackson from Urban Splash and Bill Dunster from BedZed are some of the big names who have agreed to take part to inspire students and stimulate interest from general practitioners in urban design, architecture, landscape architecture and planning.
Atkins Birmingham Head of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, Graham Woodward said, "We look forward to understanding more about alternative approaches to urbanism. As a company we are always keen to understand new philosophies and above all we are determined to help raise the visibility of design in its broadest sense, and if sponsoring this second series helps, then we are pleased to do so."
Noha Nasser, Urban Design Course Director at UCE Birmingham agrees, "It is great that Atkins are involved again and it is even better that we’ve got another influential list of speakers this year who will no doubt inspire our students and broaden the horizons of everyone who is involved in designing and planning our cities and towns".
The lectures will take place at UCE Birmingham.
