Description PER/FORM Live Design Competition is a new performance based building design competition for architects and architecture students in the U.S. and Canada. There are two components - an online competition in April and a live, head-to-head competition to take place in NYC on 17 May 2014. Registration is open until 2 April 2014. Winners will receive cash prizes and the first place winner of the live competition will be featured in Metropolis magazine.

Participants are asked to submit designs that strive for the highest standards in both aesthetic form and building performance. They will receive free access to the latest innovative technology tools to rapidly develop and iterate high performance building design concepts -- Sefaira’s real-time performance analysis software and SketchUp’s 3D design tool. Additionally, Sefaira personnel will be accessible to answer questions and help them understand the basics of high-performance design.

The jury panel includes:

Mary Ann Lazarus, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, the AIA resident fellow on sustainability and former sustainable design director for all of HOK
Jeffrey Till, AIA, LEED AP, a design principal with Perkins + Will in San Fran, with more than 25 years of architectural and master planning experience
Susan Szenasy, the editor in chief and new publisher of Metropolis
Elizabeth O’Donnell, AIA, the acting dean of The Cooper Union and a frequent speaker on the subjects of design and sustainability at events all over the world
Gita Nandan, a professor at Pratt Institute and the founder and principal at the award winning design firm thread collective

The competition is sponsored by Sefaira, SketchUp, BKSK Architects, The Public Society, the Pratt Institute and Metropolis magazine.
