This spring, renowned London artist and designer Kathy Dalwood will create a highly unusual banquet in the glorious surroundings of one of Sir John Soane’s great architectural treasures, Pitzhanger Manor in Ealing, west London. Sitting in Walpole Park, central Ealing, Pitzhanger Manor is the ‘dream house’ designed by Soane as a place to entertain his friends and display his collection of art and antiquities.
The new, free exhibition, The Secret Society – A Sculptural Banquet, is Kathy Dalwood’s first solo exhibition in a public gallery. It runs from 19 April to 9 June 2013.
The large-scale installation features a curious cast of disparate sculpted characters, forming Dalwood’s secret society, enjoying a luxurious baroque dinner party. The Soane Suite of historic rooms will be filled with bowls of exotic fruit, magnificent multi-tiered cakes, decanters of wine, all transformed into bright white plaster, along with the gathering of secret society members from Dalwood’s celebrated plaster bust collection.
