Open House at artsdepot
Event Date 16/09/2007
Location London
Country United Kingdom
Description The Open House weekend is a celebration of both contemporary and historical architecture. artsdepot joins 600 buildings across London taking part in the Open House programme, and opening their doors to the public for free.

artsdepot, North London’s landmark arts centre, was completed by architects Ruddle Wilkinson in 2004. Sitting in the heart of a modern development on Tally Ho Corner, North Finchley, the centre includes a 400 seat theatre (with tilting floor and full height fly tower) and 150 seat studio theatre, together with full changing and back of house facilities as well as an art gallery, bars, and education studios, all in a contemporary setting. There is a hub double-height atrium at the hub of the building, where the café is located.

artsdepot is part of a redevelopment at Tally Ho Corner, North Finchley. Tally Ho Corner, a public/private urban regeneration partnership, is one of the largest Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects completed in the UK. On a tightly constrained island site, the development includes artsdepot, multi-storey residential block, retail units, offices, bus interchange facility, and basement car park.

Tours of artsdepot will run throughout the day. Visitors will have a chance to see behind the scenes and find out how ecologically friendly the building is.

artsdepot will be running its Sunday Buzz music programme as usual during Open House. Visitors can enjoy FREE music in the café depot atrium between 12 and 2pm - Pocket Caravan will be performing music influenced by gypsy, Brazilian, tango and Indian cultures.

Please note a ticketed performance is taking place in the Studio Theatre so access to this space will be restricted. The performance in the Studio Theatre is Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, a play for children aged 3 and over.
