FXFOWLE Architects
Architect, planner, and urban designer Mark Strauss, FAIA, AICP, PP, LEED AP, is a Senior Partner at FXFOWLE ARCHITECTS in New York City where he co-directs the firm's Urban Studio and leads all Planning/Urban Design efforts. A key aspect of Mark's interest and talent lies in developing planning approaches to assist communities, institutions, and developers to redefine properties in response to design, economic, transportation, and political concerns. In this capacity, he has developed a national reputation for the sensitive and viable repositioning of sites and communities.
Recently, Mark co-led the design team for FXFOWLE's redevelopment plan for Copenhagen's Nordhavnen peninsula. Entitled "Nordhavnen: City Regenerative," the plan won a 2010 International Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Design and Urban Studies. In 2009, the plan was named "Best Urban Design" project by both the World Architecture News and the Boston Society of Architects, and "Best Regeneration and Masterplanning" project by MIPIM/Architectural Review.
