Duncan Young was born in Sydney, Australia.
He has been in the property sector for 22 years, and for the last 18 with Lend Lease, where he has held a variety of positions. Initially he worked in the main stream property business. Following the 2004 tsunami Duncan worked on a secondment with the United Nations in Sri Lanka as a housing advisor, after which he moved into sustainability. The Tsunami killed 39,000 people and left 80,000 without homes.
The experience of working in Sri Lanka was the link to a future career in sustainability and resource conservation. In 2007 after two years as sustainability manager in Australia, Duncan accepted a role in the UK business as sustainability manager and brings his experience from Australia to the UK, especially in the areas of workplace trends and resource scarcity, in particular, water and energy.
Duncan's current role as Sustainability Manager (New Business) identifies emerging trends and concepts applying them to the business and the places it creates. His current focus is on workplace change using physical workspaces and behaviour to improve business outcomes.
