Founder & Principal
Peter L. Gluck is founder and principal of Peter Gluck and Partners in New York. The firm has been designing and building throughout the country since 1972, expanded in 1992 to include construction-management services to build the firm's designs. Recognized for their unique approach to Architect Led Design Build (ALDB), the firm is known for its integrity of design and sensitivity to the relationship between architectural form and context. Rather than specializing in a particular building type or specific architectural style, the practice provides sophisticated and comprehensive solutions to often difficult and conflicting requirements. The firm has designed award-winning buildings throughout the United States, ranging in type from houses, schools, religious buildings, and community centers to hotels, corporate interiors, university buildings, and historic restorations. The firm's work is widely published in architectural journals and books around the world; including the most recent monograph, The Modern Impulse.
Peter L. Gluck received both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Architecture from Yale University. After designing a series of houses from New York to Newfoundland, he moved to Tokyo to design large projects for a leading Japanese construction consortium. This experience influenced Gluck's later work both in his knowledge of Japan's traditional aesthetics and of its efficient modern methods of integrated construction and design. An outspoken proponent of architects expanding their role through construction to building commissioning, he has lectured on this subject at American Institute of Architects (AIA) conferences throughout the United States and universities including Yale, Syracuse, Cornell, Cranbrook, Columbia, Tulane, Virginia Tech and Auburn's Rural Studio. He also currently serves on the AIA Project Delivery Knowledge Community National Advisory Group. Exhibitions of Gluck's award-winning work have been held in the US and Japan. He has taught at Columbia and Yale schools of architecture and curated exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Milan Triennale. www.gluckpartners.com
