Miguel Ruano has more than 30 years experience of global real estate development and design projects, with a major focus on mixed-use and hospitality. In February 2012, Miguel joined InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) as Vice President, Design & Engineering, Europe to provide strategic leadership to the Design & Engineering function and to oversee delivery of new IHG-branded hotels across all brands in Europe for managed and franchised hotels. The Design and Engineering team provide bespoke advisory services to IHG hotel owners and developers to ensure that all new and existing IHG hotels deliver on the IHG brand promise.
Prior to joining IHG, Miguel was the founder, owner and director of Miguel Ruano Associates, Ltd. Equipped with an owner’s/investor’s perspective and a cross-cultural, multidisciplinary, team-orientated approach, Miguel provided highly bespoke advisory services on project development strategy and project conceptualization; masterplanning and architectural design; design, project and construction management; integrated resorts and shared ownership (timeshare, fractionals, private residence clubs, condo-hotels). From 2009 to 2012, and based in London, Miguel was involved in projects in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, China, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Morocco, Switzerland, Maldives, the USA, Mongolia, and Spain.
