Education Sector Director,
Devereux Architects.
Darius was educated at Manchester University School of Architecture and registered as a chartered architect in 1988. He has gained a wide range of experience in commercial, education, housing, leisure, research and healthcare work. He joined the practice in 1996.
Darius Umrigar is the Managing Director of Devereux Architects UK and also leads PM Group's services to the Education sector and the Commercial, Retail and Leisure sectors. In the Education sector, Darius' specific experience includes projects at primary, secondary, tertiary and post-graduate facilities. These include teaching, learning and research facilities for Kings College London, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Roehampton University and currently Exeter University. Darius has led teams for new schools including an innovative new 1600 pupil secondary school in Bexhill, East Sussex on which he spoke at BSEC Education Conference at Westminster Academy in 2009. He is also operating as Design Advisor to one of the National Academy Framework members.
Darius has also led the practice in the field of Workplace Design, with new corporate headquarters for clients including ICI, Wyeth, Novell and Boston Scientific.
Darius has also served for 8 years as a Local Authority school governor within the London Borough of Richmond and continues to be an active member of 'Building Schools for the Future & Academy professionals', and 'EducationNow'.
