Christoph Ingenhoven was born 1960 in Düsseldorf. He studied architecture from 1978-1984 at RWTH Aachen. In 1985, Christoph founded the architectural studio of ingenhoven architects which has today become one of the world’s leading architectural practices in sustainable design. The determining factor in ingenhoven architects’ work is ecology; the well-being of the user, technical progress, a logical construction with a clean finish, as well as great sensitivity towards light and space. Sustainable and ecological architecture is a negotiated agreement. The use of regenerative energies and resources like geothermal energy and rainwater as well as intensive integration of daylight and natural ventilation of buildings all play important roles in ingenhoven’s design concepts. With a minimum consumption of energy and resources­, his projects aim for the highest utilization comfort.
The range of ingenhoven architects‘ work includes headquarters for global companies, high-rise towers, department stores, office buildings, higher education and research buildings, residential buildings, manufacturing and infrastructure projects, urban design and revitalization projects as well as product/industrial design and interior architecture.
ingenhoven architects is experienced in working internationally on the design and execution of large, innovative projects in Germany, Europe, East-Asia, North-America and Australia. The office often collaborates with a local team of partners and established experts and advisors.
The most important projects include the new Headquarters of the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, the Lufthansa Aviation Center at Frankfurt/M. Airport, Germany, the Breezé Tower in Osaka, Japan and the new Office Building of the Daniel Swarovski Corporation in Zurich. The 1 Bligh Tower in Sydney’s Central Business District has recently been completed. Currently the office works on projects in Singapore and the new Google Headquarters in California.
