Professor Gokay Deveci was born in Cappadocia, Turkey and he first studied architecture and engineering at Gazi University, Ankara, and followed this with masters degree in Architecture from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.
Professor Deveci RIBA, FRIAS leads a housing and urbanism unit at the School of Architecture, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He leads a practice-based research unit. His main contribution has been in the field of innovative housing design, especially relating to low energy and low cost solutions that uses appropriate technology and building materials, as well as being culturally sustainable.
His projects have been ground breaking and has won a series of prestigious design awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), Scottish Design and the Saltire Society Awards, as well as regional design awards. He has been a frequent speaker at professional conferences both at home and abroad. His innovative housing designs have featured widely in publications, as well as gallery exhibitions.
