Ann Noble has over thirty years experience in health facility planning and design. This has been gained from involvement in the Department of Health Hospitals Research and Development Programmes from 1971-1975, as researcher at the Medical Architecture Research Unit (MARU) at the Polytechnic of North London from 1976-1989, and from within her own practice established in 1989 which undertakes both UK and overseas work. She has undertaken short term overseas consultancy assignments for the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Overseas Development Agency (ODA) and the European Economic Community (EEC). She is currently a member of the UK Construction Industry Council Public Sector Procurement Panel, a member of the NHS Estates Building Design Knowledge Group, Patient Environment Steering Group, and Health Care Associated Infection Working Group. She is Chair of Architects for Health, a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) linked society.

Her research work has focused on the functional requirements of health buildings with the principal areas of study being designing to reduce healthcare associated infection, designing for mental health services, acute in-patient wards, accommodation for the elderly, out-patient services and primary care facilities.
