Ty Goddard is the Director of the British Council for School Environments (BCSE) and co-founder of the Centre for School Design. Previous roles have included: Managing Director of School Works, Community Strategic Manager at Brighton and Hove City Council; advisor to the DfES on Extended Schools and co-location of services; Chair of Education at Lambeth Council, UK and European Political Advisor for the NSPCC, and National Campaigns Co-ordinator for SCOPE.
In 2006 he founded The British Council for School Environments (BCSE) an educational charity and membership organisation made up of almost 400 schools, local authorities, construction companies, architects, suppliers and those involved in, and concerned about, designing quality learning environments.
The BCSE runs the Big School Makeover (www.bigschool makeover.org.uk), a national, charitable programme aimed at thinking about and renewing educational spaces in our schools. The BCSE also hosts the Centre for School Design (www.thecentrefors chooldesign.org), a think tank which places design at the heart of the way the education system works.
