Olufemi Majekodunmi was born in May 1940, and studied architecture at the Kingston College of Art (now Kingston University) in England, graduating in 1966. He established his architectural practice, Femi Majekodunmi Associates (now FMA Architects Ltd.) in January 1973, and later established other practices in Botswana (1989) and South Africa (1994).
He is closely associated with many architectural organisations, and is a past president of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, and a past president of the International Union of Architects.
He is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and was, at one time a member of the council. He is also an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects.
In addition to being involved in the running of his practices in Nigeria, Botswana and South Africa, he is also an Associate Professor of Architecture at the Department of Architecture of the University of Lagos.
