As new venues continue to open across Europe a new world class concert hall for London is long overdue
After fears that the scheme was going to be cancelled the London Symphony Orchestra may be in line to get a £278m concert hall in London UK afterall. More details of the project emerged the day after the €866 million Elbphilharmonie opened in Hamburg.  On 12.1.17 the City of London Corporation pledged £2.5 million to get the scheme realised by the end of the year. An architect is set to be appointed once the Barbican have tested the projects viability. A possible site for the new concert hall is the current site of the Museum of London which is moving to disused buildings in Smithfield. The UK government is thought to approve of the project but is cautious about committing more public finances at this stage. This may actually work in the project's favour as a privately funded project will not attract so much criticism from the regions in the UK for only benefittin
