Victoria's new landmark opened by London Mayor
Victoria Station has a new neighbour. The Peak, a new 11,280 sq m commercial office and retail building situated adjacent to the mid 19th century rail station has been officially opened by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, symbolising its significance to the historic South London district.
The Sheppard Robson designed building, on behalf of Heron International, comprises 10,400m² of office accommodation over nine storeys, with 1,780m² of retail at street level, now occupied by international banking firm HBOS.
Designed to fit in with the detailed charm of surrounding buildings, including the adjoining Apollo Theatre, two of the elevations incorporate robust limestone-clad columns and spandrels with intricately designed glass solar shading louvres inbetween.
