Launch of Middle East chapter of the American Institute of Architects

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has just launched a new international chapter the Middle East, with familiar faces from many American design firms now established in the United Arab Emirates sitting on the board, including Gensler, FXFowle, SOM and AECOM. First established in 1857, the AIA aims to ‘promote the scientific and practical perfection of its members’ and ‘elevate the standing of the profession’.

The AIA currently has 300 chapters in the US alone, with 5 international chapters in the UK, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan and now the Middle East. The organisation hopes that this new chapter in the Middle East will ‘help foster stronger ties between AIA, regional architects and governments in the MENA region’.
