The winners of the Stadium Business Awards 2010 have been announced today and Philip Johnson from Populous has been awarded Team Player of the Year for his work on the London 2012 Olympic Stadium. The awards ceremony took place during the Stadium Business Summit at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, in front of an audience of 150 stadium industry professionals from around the world. In presenting the award, the judging panel commented that it had been awarded “…for coping with the pressures, expectations and demands of multiple stakeholders in delivering a world-class stadium…”

Philip Johnson said: “To work on this very special project in my own city is an enormous privilege and to be supported by a team of such creative, energetic and talented designers at Populous is incredible. The commitment to the stadium design from the wider project team has been unwavering and we are all very much looking forward to seeing the project completed next year.”

Held for the first time this year, the Stadium Business Awards in association with Guinness, has been created as a platform to showcase innovation, professionalism and best practice within the stadium industry. As the first awards to recognise achievements in the stadium industry, all aspects of the international stadium and sports venue sector are covered, from individual staff to event and venue of the year.
