Royal rumours for Glass Museum

The National Glass Museum currently under construction in Leerdam, the Netherlands could be receiving a royal visit to the opening, according to the architects.

"The glass museum is in full progress now, and will be completed in June 2010," said a spokesperson for the architects bureauSLA. "Rumours tell that her majesty the queen (Beatrix) will attend the official opening, so we are very thrilled about that."

Initially expected to complete this month the 1.1 million € Glass Museum will now be ready nearer June. The design consists of 4 bridges connecting two historical villas creating 1,500 sq m of exhibition space for the Dutch National Museum of Glass. The concept offers a play on the transparent properties of its exhibits.
