HOK to acquire 360 Architecture

It was announced this week that international design studio HOK is to acquire 360 Architecture in a strategic move to draw on latter firm’s experience in markets such as hospitality, retail, and residential. 360 Architecture is also well-versed in sports architecture, having worked on major US schemes such as the Sun Life Stadium for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins and the AT&T Center renovation for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs in Texas.

The acquisition will also provide HOK with a presence in Kansas City, US, where 360 Architecture was founded in 2004. 360 Architecture also has bases in San Francisco and Columbus, Ohio, with more than 180 employees spread across the three offices.

“Our shared vision of collaborating across specialties and markets will strengthen the approach that has been so important to our clients’ success,” said Tom Waggoner, AIA, senior principal at 360 Architecture. “Joining HOK also gives our dedicated, talented employees even more opportunities for growth, education and diversity in their careers.

“As a global design leader, it’s important for HOK to offer clients design excellence in sports architecture,” said Patrick MacLeamy, FAIA, HOK chairman and CEO. “360 Architecture has created several of the world’s most innovative professional and collegiate sports facilities and their design-focused culture and values align with ours. Together, we will design the next generation of sports and entertainment facilities.”
