Winners of Europan 12 Netherlands revealed

Two teams have been announced as winners of the Europan 12 Netherlands competition. Europan is a biannual initiative which 15-20 European countries take part in, encouraging young architects and designers to address the major issues facing a variety of regions.

In the 2013 competition, the theme was Adaptable City (view brief via WAN’s Business Information Service), challenging entrants to rethink a city to make it easily mouldable to changing future use.

Keeping in mind issues of ecological footprint, preservation of non-renewable resources and the greenhouse effect, entrants were invited to explore the question of time with a view to making the city more adaptable.

The results of the Dutch competition are as follows:

Groningen (Elizabeth Keller and Remco Rolvink - Prelude)

Runners up

Assen (Marieke Kums - Urban Nature)
Groningen (Ton van Beek and Pieter Delacourt - Uploading City)
Schideam (Joost van Rooijen, Maarten Thewissen and Redmer Weijer - A New Start With Old Genes)
Schiedam (Matteo Bettoni, Michiel van Driessche, Bart Pouw, Milena Zaklanovic - Complete Schiedam)
