John McAslan + Partners appointed to design new 4-star Mercure hotel in Moscow region

Russian project developer Mebe Development has announced that UK architectural practice John McAslan + Partners and Germany’s Kitzig Interior Design Architecture Group have been appointed to design the four-star Mercure hotel in the Moscow region.

Construction is slated to start early this year at the 232-room $50 million hotel, which will be located on Leningradskoye Shosse in Khimki and will offer excellent transport links to Moscow city centre.

The 14,000 sq m hotel, which is due to open in the first quarter of 2016, will include a fitness area with swimming pool, restaurants, conference and function halls, as well as parking.

The hotel will be managed by international hotel operator Accor and will be the third Mercure hotel in the Moscow region.

The hotel will become Mebe’s second development project in the commercial real estate segment, along with the A-class LEED 'Gold' certified sustainable office building Mebe One Khimki Plaza located nearby, which was also designed by John McAslan + Partners.

The new hotel will achieve the same sustainablity standards as Mebe One Khimki Plaza which is designed to international specifications and has established new standards for energy-efficient design in Russia.
