Groundbreaking held for Brookfield Place Calgary by Fender Katsalidis Arney and DIALOG

Wednesday was the official groundbreaking of Brookfield Place Calgary, a 2.4 million sq ft scheme in Alberta which, once completed, will edge above the Foster + Partners-designed The Bow by 10m. Designed by DIALOG (also working on Telus Sky) and Fender Katsalidis Arney, the project stretches over a full commercial block in Downtown Calgary.

The scheme sports two office towers with 1 million sq ft of the east tower already contracted to North American oil company Cenovus. The second tower offers approximately 1 million sq ft and is yet to be let. This pair of towers will be supported by a 60ft-high glass pavilion, retail units, restaurants, underground parking for 1,100 vehicles, and a half-acre public plaza.

The development is expected to achieve the LEED Gold standard for Core & Shell development. Commuters will have direct access to the plus-15 skywalk system and the Calgary LRT. The property will house an innovative bicycle parking facility accessible by dedicated bike ramps separate from vehicular traffic and electric car plug-in recharge stations.
