15 days left to support 'musical architecture' scheme in New Orleans

A partnership between New Orleans Airlift and local artist Swoon is looking for backing on crowdfunding website Kickstarter. The ongoing project centres on the creation of a musical village where interactive instruments are incorporated into the design of a series of structures, enabling local people and visitors to the area to engage with the architecture or enjoy professional performances from handpicked artists.

The team began their journey with a smaller project two years ago called Dithyrambalina, where a 150-year-old property was revamped into a playable instrument.

This year, New Orleans Airlift and Swoon are looking to create an entire village of musical architectural expressions, beginning with a cluster of five buildings which can be expanded over time. It is hoped that the first of these musical houses will be ready for a public unveiling in May 2014, with the remainder completed by autumn 2014.
