Foster + Partners completes first interior redesign of commercial aircraft for Cathay Pacific

For the first time since opening in 1967, Foster + Partners has completed a redesign of first class cabins in Cathay Pacific’s fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The design speaks openly to the recently completed flagship lounge operated by Cathay Pacific at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), also designed by Foster + Partners.

Opened earlier this year, The Wing provides first class travellers with two levels of high-end options at HKIA, from a Champagne Bar to luxurious ‘cabanas’. The muted colour palette and quality finishes of The Wing are reflected in the first class cabins on board, where passengers will find warm white leather, reflective dark grey surfaces and walnut finishes.

Every element has been considered and refined, including the stitch of the bespoke covers for Cathay Pacific’s first class seat, the handmade woollen carpet, the refurbished bathrooms and the new reading light, which has been custom-designed to cast fewer shadows when working or dining.
