Exhibition of five Navy Pier finalists goes on show at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art

Five finalists have been selected for the redesign of Chicago’s Navy Pier. Making through to the second shortlist are: !melk/HOK/Urban Lab; AECOM/Bjarke Ingels Group; Aedas Architects/Davis Brody Bond/Martha Schwartz; James Corner Field Operations; Xavier Vendrell Studio/Grimshaw Architects. These five finalists were selected from a fierce shortlist of eleven which can be viewed here.

On 31st January and 1st February, the five teams presented their concept designs to the eagerly awaiting public at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The Pierscape scheme looks to redevelop one of Chicago’s most loved attractions – Navy Pier – as it approaches its 100th anniversary in 2016. Information on the five final concepts will remain on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art until mid May and satellite exhibitions will be hosted throughout the city to encourage the public to air their opinions. This will also be possible via the official website www.navypiervision.com

Marilynn Gardner, President of Navy Pier Inc., explained: “Allowing the public to take part in the process is very important to us. Navy Pier is Chicago’s most popular public destination. We believe that feedback from those who use it and love it is an important part of the selection process.”
