AIANY expands into adjacent storefront

The New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIANY) is expanding into a neighbouring store at 532 LaGuardia Place. This planned expansion will enable the AIANY to enhance its already comprehensive programme (each year the organisation presents over 1000 public programmes and 20 exhibitions) to which many New York-based architects have become regular attendees.

In true AIA style, a local practice has been selected to design the new venue. Manhattan-based Rogers Marvel Architects will lead the design process with Marta Sanders, AIA, Associate at Rogers Marvel commenting: “The Centre for Architecture is the place where the design community comes together – we are happy to help it reach even more people effectively.”

Margaret O’Donoghue Castillo, AIA, LEEP AP, President of AIA New York and Principal at Helpern Architects explains: “This is an historic day for not only the AIA, but also for all in New York City who are passionate about architecture and what architects do to create sustainable and livable communities.”
